Telehealth provides health care through phone or digital technologies, enabling you to access specialist care remotely.

How does telehealth work?

With telehealth, your consultations can be held via phone or video (similar to FaceTime, Zoom, or Skype). It’s particularly beneficial if you live in rural or remote areas, as it reduces the need for travel and the associated costs.

Even if you live close to St Vincent’s, you may be offered telehealth if it’s deemed suitable and beneficial by your health care professional.

A telehealth consultation saves you time and money by eliminating long trips to the hospital. It’s also convenient, because you can have your consultations at home using  your preferred device.

Equipment you’ll need:

  • Computer, tablet, or smartphone (with internet access)
  • Web camera (usually built-in)
  • Microphone and speakers (built-in or external)
  • Reliable internet connection
  • Google Chrome (for telehealth consultations with St Vincent’s Hospital)

How do I find out more about telehealth?

Discuss your requirements with your health care professional. Telehealth consultations can be booked in advance or arranged urgently if needed.
