At the St Vincent’s Men’s Health Centre, we offer exercise therapy services to support your cancer journey. Exercise is an essential aspect of your health care plan.

Why is exercise important?

Exercise has a range of benefits for people with prostate cancer. It can help to:

  • improve your quality of life – enabling you to feel more positive, maintain healthy relationships and stay motivated along your journey
  • reduce fatigue – a common side effect of cancer treatments
  • reduce loss of bone density – a side effect of hormone therapy such as androgen deprivation (ADT)
  • strengthen your pelvic floor – helping to ease urinary issues
  • maintain healthy muscles and heart – improving your overall fitness and wellbeing.

Your St Vincent’s Men’s Health physiotherapist or exercise physiologist can develop a personalised exercise program to help you achieve your individual goals.

How do I find out more about exercise therapy?

Speak to your health care professional. They will be able to connect you to a physiotherapist or exercise physiologist as part of your care plan.
