The St Vincent’s NELUNE Men’s Health Centre is a unique, multi-disciplinary men’s health service at St Vincent's Hospital. It unites some of Australia’s leading prostate cancer experts on one campus to offer a holistic range of health care services and social and psychological supports for prostate treatment and recovery.
A cancer diagnosis presents not only medical but also practical, social and psychological needs that are individual to each patient. The NELUNE Men’s Health Centre was created by St Vincent’s clinicians in growing recognition of this unmet diversity of needs, with funding support from patrons of St Vincent’s Curran Foundation and the NELUNE Foundation.
The centre embraces and embodies St Vincent’s values of compassion, justice, integrity and excellence in our health care delivery and research. By providing equitable access to medical care and facilities, we are committed to meeting the holistic needs of men from all walks of life during treatment for prostate and other men’s health conditions.
At the St Vincent’s NELUNE Men’s Health Centre, we provide comprehensive support and management of prostate cancer and other medical conditions. Our specialist team have expertise in urology, radiation oncology, medical oncology, cancer genetics, theranostics, psychology, allied health and nursing.
In addition, the centre continually strives to make advancements in care delivery and eliminate traditional boundaries around accessible treatment. Our developments to date, including a virtual care clinic and a genetic screening program for high-risk prostate cancer groups, have changed the treatment journey and health outcomes for many men.
We understand that a diagnosis of prostate cancer or other men’s health conditions can affect many areas of a patient’s life and the lives of their partners and families. By holistically addressing all aspects of treatment – physical, practical and psychosocial – we aim to improve health and quality-of-life outcomes for men who have received a challenging diagnosis.
The NELUNE Men’s Health Centre offers patients a centralised access point for their health care needs, reducing the time and stress of travelling between multiple service providers.
GPs across greater Sydney can now confidently refer patients to a holistic medical service that provides multidisciplinary cancer treatment while also addressing their underlying physical, social and psychological needs.
Keeping up to date with a patient’s progress, results and medical plans is simplified thanks to the Nurse Navigator Service, which provides a ready access point for GPs and other medical staff.
